Dinner Meeting:  Wasted Food – An Air and Waste Perspective

GUEST SPEAKER(S)

  • Dr. Crystal Reul-Chen, Senior Environmental Scientist, CalRecycle

PROGRAM TOPIC

With 40% of our food going to waste, and California legislation now requiring a 75% diversion of organic materials from landfills with 20% of food to go to food recovery programs by 2025, we have to wonder...Now what?
Learn more about what the state, cities, and food rescue organizations are doing to help divert and recover wasted food and other valuable organic materials from landfills and what you can do to help.  CalRecycle, City of Davis, and Community Harvest of Davis representatives will share the legislative directives, grant programs, food rescue and organics diversion successes and challenges we will be facing as we move ahead with diverting wasted organic materials from landfills to their highest and best uses.

This event is organized by the Mother Lode Chapter of the Air and Waste Management Association.  This event may be attended by students and their professors, and interested members and their colleagues.  We welcome representatives of regulatory agencies, academia, industry, community and environmental groups, and the consulting community.
