Dinner Meeting:  The Role of Solar Thermal Power in California's Energy Future

GUEST SPEAKER(S)

  • Steve DeYoung, BrightSource Energy
  • Doug Buchanan, BrightSource Energy

PROGRAM TOPIC

As most of you have read, Southern California Edison has signed a series of contracts with BrightSource Energy to develop 1,300 megawatts of central solar thermal power plants, providing enough energy for 845,000 homes.  This is in addition to earlier agreements between BrightSource and PG&E for another 900 megawatts of solar thermal capacity.  We're pleased to welcome Steve DeYoung and Doug Buchanan of BrightSource Energy, who will talk to us about the licensing and technology challenges associated with utility-scale solar thermal power production in California.

Who should attend?

This event is organized by the Mother Lode Chapter of the Air and Waste Management Association.  This event may be attended by students and their professors, and interested members and their colleagues.  We welcome representatives of regulatory agencies, academia, industry, community and environmental groups, and the consulting community.
